Fair Trade
Our Fair Trade products ensure fair wages, good working conditions, environmental best practice, transparency and gender equality.
To be Fair Trade is to put people and planet first in everything you do. Our producers live in rural areas, where work is often hard to come by. We give employment by using their traditional skills, such as hand weaving, hand embroidery and hand-knitting. We use natural materials, such as organic cotton and use azo-free dyes, which do not use harmful chemicals.
Bangladesh.
Our producer is based in the beautiful countryside of Northwest Bangladesh, near the Ganges River. During the War of Independence the village was destroyed and all the men were tragically massacred. So, the organisation was set up to help support the women who were left behind and who needed work.
50 years later and their business employs over 125 permanent artisans. They teach vulnerable local women traditional textile techniques such as hand weaving, hand embroidery and sewing. The onsite primary school and nursery allows women to support their families and gain independence.
They use GOTS certified organic cotton and natural, azo-free dyes to produce beautiful handwoven garments and accessories.
Nepal.
Our knitwear producer is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. They employ over 2000 artisans to hand knit garments and accessories. The artisans are mostly women who work part time at home and their children can attend the free nursery or primary school. They are trained to learn the techniques and skills required and they can even learn carpet weaving.
An orphanage was started in 1986 and they currently support 13 children with care and education. The sale of our knitted products goes towards the funding of this orphanage as well as to the knitters and their families.
10 Fair Trade Principles.
To be accredited as ‘Guaranteed fair trade’ by the WFTO our producers must comply with the 10 Fair Trade Principes.

Organic Cotton.
All our handwoven pieces are made with GOTS certified organic cotton. GOTS is the gold standard for organic fibres. It ensures every step of the supply chain is monitored, from harvesting through to production. The environmental impact as well as safe working conditions are all inspected and verified. The cotton is natural and safe for your little ones.
